It&#8217;s your body, your health, your decision. Here are some steps that can help:  <\/p><p> <\/p><ol><li><strong>Speak openly with your doctor.<\/strong>  Tell them you&#8217;re thinking of getting another opinion so that you feel more secure. Many doctors understand and will even help you <\/li><li><strong>Collect all medical documentation.<\/strong>  Exams, analyses, clinical reports, prescriptions &#8211; everything can be useful. If you don&#8217;t have these documents, ask the clinic or hospital for them. This is another patient right, guaranteed by law &#8211; you have the right to access your clinical information whenever you need it  <\/li><li><strong>Choose the second specialist well.<\/strong>  You can ask your family doctor for recommendations, your health insurance (many include this cover), go to specialized clinics or even turn to patient associations<\/li><li><strong>In the new consultation, be clear.<\/strong>  Explain that you&#8217;re looking for a second opinion. At first, you can even choose not to share the first assessment straight away, to ensure an unbiased view. A relationship of trust counts for a lot! <\/li><li><strong>Consult additional sources:<\/strong> you can read about the topic on credible health <em>websites<\/em>, talk to patient associations or even seek a third opinion<\/li><li><strong>Talk to both professionals:<\/strong> share your differing opinions and see if one of them re-evaluates their opinion.
